Five arrested after violent protest at Minister's office

Five protesters have been arrested and a policeman injured during a violent confrontation outside federal Education Minister Julie Bishop's office in Perth.

About 50 anti-nuclear protesters walked into the foyer to deliver a letter to Ms Bishop.

Police were called and protesters say officers used pepper spray and batons to subdue the group.

Four people have been charged with disorderly conduct and one has been charged with assaulting a public officer.

One policeman has been taken to hospital with a gash to the back of his head.
