The Federal Government says reports it's offered a deal to Northern Territory traditional owners for a nuclear waste facility on their land are incorrect. A weekend newspaper reported that traditional owners of Muckaty Station north of Tennant Creek have been offered $9 million every five years to accept a facility.

It said the Northern Land Council put the offer to them at a meeting late last week. But a spokesman for the Science Minister Julie Bishop says the report is wrong, but he’s unable to confirm whether an offer has been made. He says negotiations are still underway and that the Northern Land Council has requested they remain confidential.
