THE Northern Land Council spent a week strenuously stonewalling Northern Territory journalists about the location of land it is offering to the feds as a possible nuclear waste dump site. Rather than 'fessing up and revealing it was to be the Aboriginal-owned Muckaty Station, the council issued a terse media release noting: "The requirements of the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988, and commercial confidentiality, mean that the NLC cannot release information as to ... the location of relevant land". Unfortunately, the name of the media release computer file is called, you guessed it, "Media statement-muckaty-270406".

So who breached the act and commercial confidentiality?
