Deluge causes localised flooding in Katherine
Heavy rain around the Katherine River catchment area in the Northern Territory raised river levels and caused some localised flooding.
A low pressure system hovering around the area has dumped hundreds of millimetres of rain during the past three days.
Police say the Katherine River is now 15 metres below the town bridge and the road to Katherine Gorge is closed.
The weather bureau says rain in the area should ease and another low associated with ex-cyclone Larry should pass to the south of Katherine.
The bureau says 112 millimetres of rain has fallen in Katherine town since 9.00am ACST yesterday.
