A delegation of Chinese Government authorities is visiting a new oxide mine south of Darwin today.

China's largest base metal producer, the Hunan Nonferrous Corporation, holds a 50 per cent stake in the Browns Oxide mine, near Batchelor.

The Browns Oxide mine will eventually produce copper, nickel and cobalt.

The delegation's Chinese translator Jennifer Liqun Xi says demand for those resources is strong but there is also great interest in sourcing more iron ore from Australia.

"The Northern Territory has rich resources in mining," she said.

"The Northern Territory Government strongly support the investment from overseas.

"This government has made a strong commitment to overseas investment, that's why [the delegation has] come to NT."
