ERA resumes uranium mining at Ranger
The Australian, Business
ENERGY Resources of Australia said today that mining has resumed at its Ranger uranium operation in the Northern Territory after the passing of Tropical Cyclone Helen.
ERA suspended mining at Ranger on Friday due to bad weather associated with the storm, which has now weakened and is no longer classified as a cyclone.
"Crews were flown back in Sunday morning and the first mining crews began work at about lunch time," a spokeswoman for ERA said.
ERA, a 68.4 per cent-owned subsidiary of Rio Tinto, had continued processing uranium from stockpiled ore.
An ERA spokeswoman said the interruption to mining will have no impact on sales.
