Uranium miner Energy Resources of Australia Ltd. said on Tuesday its first quarter production rose 32 percent from the previous first quarter to 2,925 pounds of uranium oxide.

However, the single mine company said output of uranium was 15 percent lower than in the previous quarter due to lower grades at its Ranger mine in Australia's Northern Territory.

ERA, which supplies about 10 percent of the world's uranium and is 68 percent-owned by Rio Tinto, said restricted access to high grade ore because of water in the open pit mine due to the summer wet season is set to reduce uranium production in the second quarter.

'This access should be re-established towards the end of the second quarter, with the mill currently processing stockpiled ore,' the company said.
