Aboriginal council backs nuke dump
ABC - Radio Australia
The Northern Land Council, which represents Aboriginal people in Australia's Northern Territory, has confirmed that the traditional owners of Muckaty Station would fully support a federal nuclear waste facility being built on their land.
The Australian government is expected to receive a report on possible sites, including Muckaty, before the end of next month.
The Northern Land Council says the traditional owners nominated Muckaty - north of Tennant Creek - for consideration last year and are still pleased with the decision.
The land council says an earlier report saying that the owners had not decided on their stance about the proposed dump was incorrect.
