Expect more uranium mines, company director says
The managing director of mining company Uranium Equities says there is no doubt more uranium mines will pop up across the Northern Territory in the near future.
The comments come as yet another mining company announces plans for exploration in the Territory.
Outback Metals Limited has released its prospectus outlining plans for 10 exploration licences across the NT.
It has been granted uranium exploration licences for land near the Daly River and the Wingate Project, which lies about 250 kilometres south of Darwin.
The company is wanting to explore the Ranger East project near Kakadu and the Acacia Project about 60 kilometres south of Darwin.
Uranium Equities managing director Mark Chalmers says the company's plans are a sign of what is to come in the NT.
"I think the first step is getting the public better educated and more comfortable with the uranium extraction industry," he said.
He says its only a matter of time before more uranium mines are up and running in the Top End.
