NT Labor, Country Libs should 'come clean' on nuclear waste: campaigner

ABC News Online

An anti-nuclear campaigner says the Northern Territory Labor Party and the Country Liberals should come clean over their stance on a proposed nuclear waste dump in the Territory.

The Federal Government announced last week it would review the situation after the previous Howard government passed legislation forcing the facility on the Northern Territory.

But Natalie Wasley from the Alice Springs-based Beyond Nuclear Initiative says politicians should put their cards on the table.

"Before the election the Federal Government gave a really clear commitment to overturn the laws that were rammed through when Howard was in power," she says.

"Because there has been no movement we are really hoping to see all candidates to stand up really strongly and say to the Federal Government we are standing on a platform that says we do not want a radioactive waste dump in the Northern Territory."
