Labor accused of changing stance on Territory nuclear dump
The Greens say the Rudd Government hasn't kept its election promise to rule out a nuclear waste dump in the Northern Territory.
The previous Howard government passed legislation which would force a site on the Territory despite local opposition to the proposal.
Greens Senator Scott Ludlam says Labor has failed to undo the laws, despite being strongly opposed to the legislation when they were in opposition.
"[They said] they would repel the Howard government's regressive waste dumping legislation in the Territory and they had some very, very strong things to say when they were opposing the bill on the way through the Senate.
"Now we seem to be the only ones out there saying this thing needs to be repelled immediately and we can't get any sensible word out of [current Minister for Resources and Energy] Martin Ferguson."
