Uranium export value tipped to fall 8pc
The value of Australia's uranium exports is forecast to drop by 8 per cent or $60 million this financial year.
The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE) says that is because of a significant fall in spot prices, due to an increase in world production.
ABARE's Trish Gleeson says the bulk of Australia's uranium exports are not affected, because they are sold on a contract basis, including uranium from the Northern Territory's Ranger mine.
"The fall in spot prices really only affects quite a small proportion of our production," she said.
"For instance, the Ranger mine in the Northern Territory most of its production is exported on contract prices, so their exports won't be affected.
"Really the smaller exports from South Australia, Beverley particularly."
