Uranium block to cost billions: Robb

The federal government's decision not to sell uranium to India will cost Australia billions of dollars, the opposition says.

Labor's party policy stops it from selling uranium to countries which are not signatories to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

"It is going to cost the Australian community billions of dollars," opposition foreign affairs spokesman Andrew Robb told ABC TV.

"The national interest is not being considered."
