Grylls supports nuclear waste storage in WA
ABC News Online
The Nationals Leader Brendon Grylls says he supports storing nuclear waste in Western Australia.
Mr Gylls says any debate about uranium mining must consider the issue of waste storage.
"My opinion is that if you're supporting a lower carbon economy then nuclear power and the storage of spent nuclear fuel rods will be a part of that debate," he said.
His stance is at add with the Premier Colin Barnett who supports uranium mining, but is opposed to storing the waste in WA.
Mr Barnett doesn't believe the state should or could be pressured into accepting waste from the uranium it exports.
Mr Grylls says the comments reflect his own opinion, rather than National Party policy.
