Workers safe after radioactive exposure

THE workers who accidentally ingested radioactive material are not expected to suffer any side effects from the exposure.
WorkSafe executive director Laurene Hull confirmed that at least six workers from the Ranger mine, near Jabiru, had traces of uranium oxide in their urine.
"This was at levels far below the international standard for exposure to radiation,'' she said.
"Ultimately we would want no exposure of radiation.''
Ms Hull said the workers could have been exposed to 10 times more radiation and still not be at risk.
