Uranium drilling underway near Alice

ABC News Online

Canadian company Cameco has started drilling at the Angela uranium deposit, 25 kilometres south of Alice Springs.

The company conducted flora and fauna surveys earlier this year and has paid a security deposit to the Northern Territory Government.

It says it will capture dust from the first stages of drilling and will use diamond core drilling, which produces no dust when it reaches the uranium ore body.

The company will drill almost 120 holes, which is expected to take about seven months.
