Uranium exploration nod angers Greens
ABC News Online
The Greens say the Northern Territory Government is ignoring the will of the people by approving an exploration plan at the Angela uranium prospect, 25 kilometres south of Alice Springs.
The Government yesterday approved the plan, allowing drilling to begin at the site.
Environment groups have raised concerns about dust and the project's proximity to the Alice Springs town water supply.
Greens' Senator Scott Ludlam says the Government's decision is a highly provocative challenge.
