The mining company Energy Resources of Australia has increased uranium production at its Northern Territory mine.
ERA owns and operates the Ranger uranium mine, which is surrounded by the Kakadu National Park.
In its quarterly results, the company reports a 44 per cent increase in uranium production compared to the same time last year.
The 1480 tonnes produced during the June quarter is also 22 per cent up on production earlier this year.
ERA attributes the increase to completed upgrades and improved milling rates.
It has also spent $1.5 million on exploration during the June quarter.
Earlier this year the Commonwealth gave the go ahead for ERA's proposed underground exploration project.
The company is waiting for the Territory Government to decide whether more environmental assessments are needed to start the project.
