Tassie joins dump protest

NT News

TASMANIANS have joined in the protest against the Federal Government's planned nuclear waste dump in the NT.
About 40 people turned out in Hobart's Franklin Square on Monday for the protest, coinciding with a Senate Inquiry hearing in Darwin on the National Radioactive Waste Management Bill, which seeks to build a radioactive waste dump at Muckaty station, north of Tennant Creek.
Protest spokesman Brett Thompson said the support at Franklin Square sent a clear message to the Federal Government that there is stiff opposition to the plan, not only from the traditional owners.
