The Greens have launched their election campaign in the Northern Territory and the Greens leader, Bob Brown, joined ABC Breakfast presenter Julia Christensen to talk light-rail, nuclear waste dumps, uranium mining and the election debates.

Greens leader Bob Brown came out swinging at the major political parties on a number of issues, especially the handling of nuclear waste material in Australia and particularly the Northern Territory.

Bob Brown said only the Greens offer a different stance on the proposed nuclear waste site and explained why.

"What the country's doing is exporting uranium and bringing back nuclear waste and a nuclear waste dump in Australia, and if it's in the [Northern] Territory, will lead to the huge pressure being brought to bear for it to become an international waste dump."

When a caller asked about the election campaign being boring, Bob Brown admits the slogans of political parties can be frustrating.

The Greens senator touted the idea of putting a vision forward for the future of Australia.

When Julia Christensen asked if it was easy to have grand visions for the country with the knowledge that the Greens have no real chance of being elected to power, the Greens leader replied, "It's dead wrong."
