Energy Resources of Australia has warned of job cuts at its Ranger uranium mine in the Northern Territory.
ERA has posted a $60 million loss for the first half of the year.
The miner recorded a $120 million loss in the same period to June last year.
Chief executive officer Rob Atkinson says the company aims to save more money in reducing the workforce by natural attrition.
"We do have to position ourselves to become a smaller company," he said.
"As such, we are going to need less support and less people to support the mining operations.
"We will be managing that predominantly through turnover.
"As we have been averaging at least 22 per cent turnover, I think that will occur quite naturally."
