A SECOND NT site for the nation's nuclear waste dump is to be nominated in case the legal fight against the first one succeeds.
The Northern Land Council is to hold a meeting with traditional owners in Darwin tomorrow.
This has angered opponents of the dump. One said: "A second lot of elders are being softened up."
The source said some traditional owners in Tennant Creek believed they would be paid millions for allowing the dump to be built on their land.
"That's obviously not true - but that's what they've been led to believe."
The selection of a site on indigenous-owned Muckaty station, near Tennant, is being challenged in the Federal Court.
The next hearing is on November 30.
